Sustainability in Action: Zero Food Waste × The Circle of Care

At Shih Wei, sustainability has always been at the core of our journey. Beyond our commitment to long-term corporate development, we actively embrace social responsibility and community engagement as key pillars of our ESG strategy.

Every festive season, we receive gift boxes from our supply chain partners, often filled with perishable fruit or pastries. To avoid waste, we follow the principle of “zero food waste.” While some gifts are shared among employees, others are made available through internal charity sales at a special price. The proceeds are then donated to nonprofit organizations, or some gift boxes are shared with social welfare groups - each one given a second life: less waste, more warmth.

Beyond food, we carry this spirit into the circular economy. Employees are invited to bring unused household items for second-hand charity sales, giving each product a second life. This idea of “old becomes new” not only extends the life of everyday things, but also turns all proceeds into support for charitable causes—making sure resources create value again where they are most needed.

Sustainability is also woven into our supply chain practices. For every valid questionnaire completed, Shih Wei contributes NT$30 to support disadvantaged groups. This year, 109 responses were gathered, turning feedback into real donations - a reflection of how Shih Wei and its partners work together to bring ESG to life.

Guided by the principle of “giving back to society,” we combine the goodwill of our employees and partners through gift box sales, second-hand charity sales, employee donations, and supplier questionnaires. Since 2021, we have been able to support multiple welfare organizations. In 2025, our combined donations totaled NT$25,800, benefiting groups such as Wanderers' Lodge Association, Homeless Taiwan Association, Youxi Care Association, and Animal Protection Association of the ROC - providing care to those in need, both people and animals alike. While the donations may not be large, they have sparked a ripple effect among the team, nurturing a spirit of social care and support for the disadvantaged.

While funds may be limited, compassion knows no bounds. By practicing zero food waste and circular economy principles, we not only deliver resources to where they are most needed, but also realize the synergy of sustainability’s three pillars: Environment (waste reduction), Society (support for the vulnerable), and Economy (resource reuse). Looking ahead, we will continue to advance the vision of “Zero Food Waste × Circle of Care,” embedding sustainability into everyday actions and sending ripples of kindness further into society.
