To ease the mental and physical stress of our seafarers and in response to World Oceans Day, we continue to host the Seafarer’s Photo Contest for 3 consecutive years. This event allows our crew to enrich their leisure time amidst their busy and monotonous work. This year, we showcased the works on World Seafarers' Day, sharing them with stakeholders, and we pledge to hold this competition annually.
Last year, when we shared the winning photos with all crew members, one of the participants, Second Officer Su, Po-Chiao, reflected on how his work could be improved. During his free time, he began to refine his photography skills. This year, his efforts paid off as he won the grand prize.
Su’s experience might not represent everyone, but it highlights the way this photo contest stirs a small ripple in the otherwise tranquil life at sea. The outstanding works selected this year were chosen through enthusiastic participation and fierce voting. Now, let’s appreciate these fantastic photos, carrying the salty essence of the sea.
★ Top 3 Winners
GRAND PRIZE WINNER:
"First-Hand, Tianyuan" by Su, Po-Chiao (M.V. Stamina SW)
While in Australia, I happened to capture this photo while our M.V. Blessing SW berthed at the same jetty. It’s true what they say: beauty can be found everywhere. You don’t need to spend much money or travel far. If you calm your mind, you’ll discover the beauty in everyday details.
SECOND PLACE WINNER:
"Aerial View of Mount Fuji" by Gai, Qi-Kun (M.V. Genius SW)
When our ship docked in Japan, I was captivated by the snow-capped beauty of Mount Fuji and took this picture. Photography is my hobby at sea, allowing me to document my life, the places I’ve been, and the views I’ve seen. It will always be a dazzling part of my life’s journey.”
THIRD PLACE WINNER:
"Through the Lens" by Wang, Jie-Hui (M.V. Aquamarine SW)
“Seascapes can be vast and hard to capture in a unique way. I suddenly thought about shooting through the perspective of a fairlead, creating a framed effect. The reflection on the hole’s surface interacted perfectly with the setting sun. This was taken en route from South Africa to Argentina after enduring the rough waves around the Cape of Good Hope. The clear sky felt like hope returning.”
